C.V. "Red" Money was born in Jay County, Indiana. He received a B.S. degree from Ohio Northern University (1923), an M.S. degree (1933) and a Dir. P.E. degree (1956) from Indiana University. Money began his career at Northern Michigan University in 1947. For many years, he was nearly single-handedly responsible for the entire athletic program. George Tomasi attended Hermansville High School in Hermansville, Michigan, where he played on the basketball team. He was one of the original "Barracks Boys," a group of sixteen men given scholarships in 1952 by athletic director and coach C.V. Money to attend Northern Michigan University as a part of the G.I.
